"I was referred to Solon Spine and Wellness Center after suffering for three months with constant low back pain from herniated discs. The pain in my low back was so severe that I could not even begin to do any of the activities that I had done in the past. It was not unusual for me to run 30 miles a week. After the herniation, a simple sneeze would bring me to my knees. I was so desperate to try anything that would steer me away from having surgery.

I exhausted several options before coming to Solon Spine and Wellness Center. I started off by seeing a physical therapist who gave me exercises to strengthen my lower back. The exercises were hard to complete because of the pain. I also tried getting adjustments from my family chiropractor, but these also did not relieve my symptoms. After taking pain medication for two months, I realized I needed to explore another option. My chiropractor then referred me to Dr. Abood and decompression therapy.

The results from decompression therapy have been wonderful for me. After about one week of therapy, I started feeling some relief. The relief got better after every session. "When I first came to Dr. Abood's office I came in with very low expectations of gaining relief from a very painful back ailment that had greatly diminished my quality of life. Medically, I had tried just about everything except surgery, from various pain medications to physical therapy.

The herniated discs in my lower back were causing great nerve pain in my legs and even feet. I had been very athletic most of my life and could take pain, but this was too much.

I had heard about the decompression therapy from a friend, who thought it might be worth a try. From the time I entered the office, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that Dr. Abood seemed to know each patient that entered the office was impressive. He explained to me that he thought the therapy would be very helpful and greatly decrease my pain level. As a former athlete, I can tell I still need follow up care to get to the level of activity I desire. With Dr. Abood's help, I am working on regaining my flexibility now that the pain level is very low, and I feel like I'm well on my way.

As a pastor for a new church, I am thankful for the care that I have received from Dr. Abood, Deb, and the entire staff. Saved from surgery "I was involved in an auto accident this past December and injured my back. An MRI showed that I had a herniated disc among other problems. After months of pain, my lower back pain worsened to an unlivable degree. The pain was absolutely terrible, so bad that I could not often get out of bed.

Just when I thought that the back pain could not get worse, walking up the stairs one day I felt this horrible shooting pain go down my left leg and into my foot. My left foot was totally numb.

At this time, the Neurosurgeon said that my only option would be SURGERY.

My disc had fully ruptured and therefore it was important that we do something as soon as possible to avoid further complications. I was miserable… could barely get out of bed, walk, sit comfortably, work, drive, pretty much I could barely live. I hated how I felt, but more than that I hated the idea of surgery.

A while back, my fiancee and I had seen Dr. Abood on a channel 3 news documentary and learned about the non-surgical Spinal Decompression System. The rest is history! The first week, I felt better. I started to have less pain in my leg, some feeling came back to my foot, and the back pain almost

"I have had back problems for about 40 years! Back surgery was the only option available to me 17 years ago, when I was suffering from a herniated disc. The healing time was lengthy, and also very painful. Last July I again had to see an orthopedic surgeon who recommended physical therapy, and if that did not help, another back surgery. I did go through the physical therapy as recommended, but the pain was still there. The problem was another herniated disc. I did not want to take pain pills that just partially covered up the problem!

Surgery was the last thing I wanted to go through… again… My back pain was so severe that I could not sleep well at night. My mornings were terrible. I could not sit at the table and eat my breakfast because of the severe pain in both legs, and back. Walking, sitting or lying flat was all painful. Going to the movies, church, or out to dinner was always very hard for me.

"About six months ago, my back felt like it was damaged beyond repair. Every movement I made was agony. I seriously wondered if I would ever function normally again. Dr. Abood recommended I begin treatments on his lumbar decompression machine. I the meantime, he recommended an MRI and a visit to a neurosurgeon. The MRI revealed an 8mm disc herniation.

"Where do I start to explain my experience with my back and legs before coming to the Solon Spine and Wellness Center? I know… PAIN! PAIN! PAIN! EXCRUCIATING PAIN!!!!

I have never felt pain like I HAD BEFORE I came to see Dr. Abood. I went to a conference in San Antonio, Texas with my sister. I could walk before I left, but I returned in a wheelchair.

I called my orthopedic specialist, and when he saw me he was very concerned about my “dropped” left foot. He sent me to a spine surgeon, who sent me for an MRI. When he read the MRI, he informed me that I had only two options; surgery, or shots in my spine for pain. Neither choice appealed to me. I made an appointment to see another orthopedic pecialist and he gave me no additional options.

I prayed to God to help me and guide me in what to do. I could barely walk or stand, just sit down,
and take pain pills on my two week sick leave from work. When I returned to work, it was extremely difficult to walk, bend or stand, but by God's Grace I made it through the day.

One evening my mother was reading the paper and saw the insert for spinal decompression. She handed it to me, and I first read the testimonial and said “THAT'S ME!!” I did read the other side regarding the new technology. I promptly put the flyer in my bag to take to work the next day to call for an appointment.

I called and got an appointment for that same day. I was greeted with smiles that made me feel welcomed and at ease. Dr. Abood reviewed my MRI report before he came in to talk to me. "I would like to start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I have been miserable for about two years now with lower back pain form three herniated discs. My family physician had sent me for three spinal epidural injections, physical therapy for four months and many prescriptions of pain pills but nothing seemed to be helping me just making matters worse. My family physician was at a loss; she had no idea what to do next for me, since nothing was taking away my pain or the tingling sensation in my legs and feet. She had one last resort that was a referral to the Solon Spine and Wellness Center. She wanted to see if I would be eligible for the spinal decompression.

I met with Dr. Abood when he looked over my MRI and then he gave me an exam to determine if he could help me, my favorite words he said were, “I think I can help you”. Dr. Abood instantly went out to his staff and requested that I get on the decompression table right then and there. I was scared
because I had been in pain for so long and I did no know what to expect. His staff placed me on the machine for 30 minutes and when I got off the machine, it was remarkable, I did not have the tingling in the bottom of my feet anymore.

This to me was incredible! I have had 20 visits now on the Lumbar Decompression and my life has changed so much. I am able to do things that I have not been able to do in two years. I would recommend this machine to anyone who has had any type of back problems for a period of time. My only regret through this process is “I wish I knew about this machine and Dr. Abood two years ago!”

"I am very thankful that my wife found Terri, a patient at Solon Spine and Wellness who told her about Dr. Abood and decompression treatment. I was injured at work in 2004 and was so tired of living in pain. For two years, I had been fighting with Workers Comp and my previous doctor about how I was being treated. I was so happy when I learned there was a way for my back and leg pain to go away. I just wanted to get better!

I was told with surgery I had a 50/50 shot of getting well, but that was not an option for me. My job is in sales, and I need to be positive to make sales.
